Welcome to Danville

San Ramon Valley town with a bucolic feel

A classic slice of Americana, Danville is situated between the hills of Las Trampas and Mount Diablo. Sometimes referred to as the “Heart of the San Ramon Valley,” Danville is charming, timeless, and one of the Bay Area’s wealthiest towns. Here, you’ll find exclusive country clubs and some of the most expensive real estate in the country.

Downtown Danville is filled with cafes and bars to discover — an excellent place to spend a weekend afternoon. The town is also home to a wide variety of housing types, including single-family homes, townhomes, and condos, with architectural designs like Modern Spanish Revival, Classic California Rancher, Modern Farmhouse, Contemporary and stately homes.
If you are a history buff, you will appreciate that Danville cherishes its story and has preserved many historic structures. Meanwhile, San Francisco and Silicon Valley are only about a 30-minute drive away, with I-680 enabling residents to commute to the city for work. Locals love the convenience of walking or cycling through tree-lined streets to their favorite destinations. The town is home to nearly 43,000 people, and amidst its history, Danville also provides many modern amenities typical of large cities. This neighborhood has a unique combination of luxury amenities and a bustling yet small-town environment, complemented by a peaceful atmosphere with upscale country clubs and welcoming vibes. Not only that, but Danville has been named the safest community in the state for four years running, with a low rate of property and violent crime. Thanks to its array of amenities, rich history, and gorgeous real estate scene, it’s no wonder Danville’s residents take such great pride in their community.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Downtown Danville is the town’s vibrant center of activity, and of its many restaurants, you don’t want to miss Locanda Ravello and its exquisite Italian cuisine. The top-notch Mediterranean menu and friendly service encourage repeat visits. Also, be sure to try Lotus Thai Restaurant, where comforting chicken massaman curry, delicious honey-grilled pork, and pad Thai noodles are menu standouts.

Esin Restaurant and Bar - 750 Camino Ramon Danville, Esin is an award-winning Danville "gem" where fabulous Mediterranan-New American farm to table dishes including mind-blowing desserts are served daily for lunch and dinner.

The Peasant & The Pear is the flagship restaurant of the many outstanding eateries run by renowned local Chef Rodney Worth. The menu’s “peasant cuisine” includes salads, sandwiches, and entrees served in an outdoor bar on Prospect Ave., a setting very much in harmony with Downtown Danville (the chef recommends the Italian lamb shank).

Bridges Restaurant and Bar is perfect for a delightful dinner, a date, or drinks and cocktails with friends. After the release of the film Mrs, Doubtfire, in which one of the most memorable comedy “reveal” scenes of all time was filmed, Bridges received nationwide acclaim!  Forbes Mill Steakhouse is also a fantastic spot if it’s seafood and steak you’re seeking. The Grille at Blackhawk is another excellent choice if American comfort food and a laid back atmosphere are in order. Another fantastic restaurant is Bagel Street Cafe, which makes eggwiches, breakfast bagels, and even pizza bagels.

The Danville Livery Shopping Center is a go-to spot for retail therapy, with its shops, cafes, and boutique stores for everyday errands, including East Bay Flower Company and Danville Interior Design Gallery. Try J.McLaughlin, a stylish clothing chain that caters to men's and women’s styles. If you’re aiming to up the ante of your interior design, head to Whim House or Misto Lino, two stores where the home design products and decor are exceptional.

Things To Do

Each year, residents look forward to the Danville Summerfest, a wonderful event for families with young children. The festival features concerts, a collection of works by local artists, elite food vendors (even by Danville’s standards), local brews, and more than enough fun for the kids.

The Danville Farmers’ Market, at the corner of Railroad and Prospect Avenues, is a busy spot each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market highlights local vendors with seasonal produce; in the fall, you can shop for fresh apples, grapes, and vegetables like artichokes and Brussels sprouts. Danville is also known for its famous 4th of July parade.

For history lovers, you can check out the Museum of the San Ramon Valley to learn about the town's history. Also, don’t miss the Blackhawk Museum, best known for its car collection and annual Halloween costume party.
